BOit! Bologna sustainability 



Brief:

Your version of the shape of Bologna, to promote the city through an artistic  interpretation of the icons that identify it in terms of a future carbon neutral city.
Finding graphic expression in the chosen shape being the outline of the ancient walls of the city, called a “cresta” for the theme of ecological transition and the climate crisis. The decorative pattern that can be replicated indefinitely. This final pattern represents traveling in a common direction of a sustainable development that respects the planet's limits.


Key Insights:


Beyond Bologna is the motto of this edition. The shape was chosen because it recalls the polygonal shape of a beehive cell, Bologna has a long tradition of research on the study of bees, in the functioning and balance of the ecosystem.
Bologna is among the hundred European cities selected to become carbon neutral by 2030.
Currently, urban areas, globally, consume over 65 percent of the world's energy resources, producing over 70 percent of CO2 emissions.
Carbon neutrality is a goal the European Union has set to achieve by 2050 and Bologna is a key city for progress.


The Idea:

‘Electric Vitality’ a graphic interpretation for a decorative motif to be used as a pattern, reinforcing future renewable sources for sustainability. 



Outcome:

Design a motif in the shape of the outline of Bologna, incorporating nature and solar panel grids to encourage harvesting energy from natural sources.
